Bluffton Self Help was cre­ated to serve local fam­i­lies, includ­ing adults and chil­dren, in the Bluffton area. In 2011 BSH is pro­jeted to serve over 25,000 indi­vid­u­als, includ­ing seniors and fam­i­lies with chil­dren, who oth­er­wise might not get the food, cloth­ing, or finan­cial aid they need.

Any­one in the greater Bluffton area who is in need of short-term, doc­u­mented emer­gency help can apply for ser­vices. Food and cloth­ing is avail­able at spe­cific times through­out every week.

For finan­cial aid, peo­ple need to pro­vide us with proof of cur­rent or recent employ­ment, a rental his­tory and proof of income. When the records have been reviewed, an inter­view will be arranged for the applicant.

While we may have spe­cial projects that vary from year to year, the fol­low­ing are ser­vices we con­sis­tently pro­vide Bluffton area residents:

• Our clients will receive free food and cloth­ing when they need it.

• The babies in our client fam­i­lies receive much needed dis­pos­able dia­pers when their par­ents ask.

• In a doc­u­mented cri­sis, our clients receive finan­cial assis­tance that may include rent, util­ity bills and medications.

• When our clients need some­thing we can’t pro­vide, we part­ner with other local non-profits to address those needs.

• Our Children’s Pro­gram is designed to address the school-based needs of shool age children

• Many Bluffton seniors on fixed incomes need home repairs and we are there to help

• At Thanks­giv­ing, food bas­kets are deliv­ered to our Bluffton fam­i­lies in need by local fam­i­lies whom have adopted them.

• And at Christ­mas, hun­dreds of chil­dren who would oth­er­wise go with­out will receive toys from our Silent Santas.
