About Bluffton Self Help
Bluffton Self Help was created to serve local families, including adults and children, in the Bluffton area. In 2011 BSH is projeted to serve over 25,000 individuals, including seniors and families with children, who otherwise might not get the food, clothing, or financial aid they need.
Anyone in the greater Bluffton area who is in need of short-term, documented emergency help can apply for services. Food and clothing is available at specific times throughout every week.
For financial aid, people need to provide us with proof of current or recent employment, a rental history and proof of income. When the records have been reviewed, an interview will be arranged for the applicant.
While we may have special projects that vary from year to year, the following are services we consistently provide Bluffton area residents:
- Our clients will receive free food and clothing when they need it.
- The babies in our client families receive much needed disposable diapers when their parents ask.
- In a documented crisis, our clients receive financial assistance that may include rent, utility bills and medications.
- When our clients need something we can’t provide, we partner with other local non-profits to address those needs.
- Our Children’s Program is designed to address the school-based needs of shool age children
- Many Bluffton seniors on fixed incomes need home repairs and we are there to help
- At Thanksgiving, food baskets are delivered to our Bluffton families in need by local families whom have adopted them.
- And at Christmas, hundreds of children who would otherwise go without will receive toys from our Silent Santas.
