It’s Holiday Toy Time at Bluffton Self Help!

Christmas is coming soon, and children throughout the area are hoping for a gift this year… To date we have several hundred children needing toys and not enough toys to meet the needs. Toys can be dropped off at the WSAV Holiday Hope locations: Walmart in Hardeville, Bluffton and Hilton Head; Station 300 in Bluffton; Stooges Restaurant in Bluffton; Tanger I and II Outlets; and at Bluffton Self Help’s location at 39 Sheridan Park Circle.
Suggestions for Boys:
Legos are HUGE! Also trucks. We had requests for many educational toys for boys 6-14 which is a good thing. Always sports equipment…basketballs, footballs, soccer balls. Books especially for ages 8-14.
Suggestions for Girls:
Barbie and Princess dolls, dolls in general but we were very short on Dora the Explorer dolls. Doll strollers. Girls 6-12 asked for crafts…you can find all sorts of these in the girls section. Again books for girls 8-14.
Suggestions for Teens: 12-14:
We were very short on gifts for teens. Socks, scarves, makeup, bath kits, cheaper watches, cologne or body wash kits for guys or $10-25 gift cards. There are even some $25 MP3 players you can get.
For Newborns-4 year olds:
Plenty of toys for that group. Building blocks and educational toys are great. Small trikes or riding toys would be helpful. We get a lot of stuffed animals for these kids. They’ve got a big section in the toy department so they are not hard to buy for.
Games are always a big hit. Games are great with the older kids, and we also use them to add to family gifts so that everyone can play. Got a lot of Memory Matters last year but not too many Scrabble, Yahtzee, Battleship or even Monopoly.
We received a lot of Play Doh and puzzles…and scads of coloring books. These make great gifts! If you donate these, please consider including crayons or colored markers. These items given together make such a big difference for the kids!
