Donating Food at BSH
Help us Stock our Shelves
Providing food to hungry children, families, and senior citizens is the foundation of our work, and it would not be possible without the generous contributions of the food industry, Second Helpings, food drive sponsors, and individual food donors.
Church, Business and Group Donations
The work of BSH is truly a community effort, assisted in large part by the continuing generosity of the local food industry, churches and local groups. If not for regular donations by distributors, supermarkets, and growers, there would be significantly less food for BSH to distribute to those in need. Whether it’s excess inventory, restaurant surplus, or products that are cosmetically imperfect or minimally out of date – BSH can use it to feed people.
Your Donations Help in Many Ways.
If not for regular donations by manufacturers, wholesalers, distributors, supermarkets, and growers, there would be significantly less food BSH to distribute to those in need. We truly appreciate our network of BSH supporters who donate their time, money and talents to the mission of Bluffton Self Help. We thank them for their gifts and we are privileged to put their compassion into action.
If you are an organization with excess inventory, surplus from restaurants, or products short code dated, or minimally out of specification, BSH can use it to feed our Bluffton neighbors.
Individual Food Donations
BSH gladly accepts unopened, nonperishable food items from individual donors. Donations can be dropped off at our agency Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Create a habit of buying a few extra cans of food when you go to the grocery store, or take advantage of supermarket sales and two-for-one coupons. Donate your discounted or free items to BSH! The most requested items include canned meats and vegetables, beans and legumes, and disposable diapers in all sizes. To see a list of our most-needed food items, download the BSH Most Wanted Items List!
More specifically, we always need:
