Red Apron Hero | Deborah Linman

Deb is one of our most dedicated volunteers.  While she has always been a BSH shift supervisor, her leadership skills have really shined through our COVID response. Deb helps to prepare for and executes our drive-thru distribution on both Mondays and Thursdays!

Q&A with Deb:

Hometown: Iowa, The Hawkeye State

Q: What do you think other people should know about Bluffton Self Help?

A: It is not a disgrace to ask for help.

Q: Why do you continue to support Bluffton Self Help?

A: I enjoy working to give back to the community. I grew up in a household where my father was a hardworking veteran and self employed and my mother worked from the time my brothers and I began school. We were active in the church and community organizations.

Q: Is there a particular moment, memory that stands out to you while volunteering?

A: There was a client, older in age, I met who became pregnant (unexpectantly) and I watched her grow throughout her pregnancy. She worked and came to BSH right up to the day before delivery. She was off work for one month and went right back to work. She brought her new baby to show us all and brought her each week following to see.
