Bluffton Self Help offers a variety of programs and services to help individuals and families reach their goals. From job skill training at our Education and Resource Center to our Dress to Impress and financial literacy workshops, we want individuals to know we can help with resources and tools geared toward self-improvement. At various times throughout the year, you may even see the mobile library or mobile medical unit offering help and support to our Bluffton neighbors.

BASIC NEEDS

Bluffton Self Help strives to meet the basic needs of families facing crisis or poverty. We provide free food, clothing, financial assistance and other basic needs, such as coats, toiletries, diapers, wipes and formula to our Bluffton neighbors. Meeting the basic needs of our families helps them on their path to personal success.

WELLNESS FOOD PANTRY


Bluffton Self Help's Wellness Food Pantry offers a client-centered shopping experience with access to fresh fruits, vegetables, meats, dairy and non-perishable food items such as beans and cereal. With a higher-than-average cost of living in Bluffton, it's important to provide access to healthy, fresh food options to our Bluffton neighbors. Since COVID-19 we have changed our in person shopping to a contactless drive-thru grocery pick-up. Our neighbors may drive-thru once a week for pre-bagged groceries.

  • Open to ALL Bluffton (29910/29909) residents
  • Residents of Beaufort County (excluding HHI) and Jasper County who are working in Bluffton
  • Residents of Hardeeville (29927) and Ridgeland (29936) receiving either Social Security Retirement/Disability benefits

MOBILE FOOD PANTRY


In response to the pandemic and an effort to provide access to healthy food to all neighbors, Bluffton Self Help has begun offering home delivery services for pre-bagged groceries to clients who are either homebound due to medical reasons or do not have transportation to visit BSH for food. This service may be offered on either a temporary or permanent basis. Any neighbor who finds themselves in a situation that makes it difficult or impossible to attend our Drive-thru Grocery Pick-up please call 8430757-8000, choose option 3 to complete a questionnaire and be added to the delivery schedule. Slots are limited.

Home Delivery Hours 
Thursdays 10-2pm

* For food safety reasons clients must be home during the delivery window.

Open to a limited number of Bluffton residents who are homebound.

EMERGENCY FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE


Each year, hundreds of families seek access to emergency financial assistance due to a catastrophe (such as a hurricane) or family crisis (such as medical, transportation, housing challenges). Bluffton Self Help assists families with housing, utility or medical support to ensure they have financial resources to get through the need. The current COVID-19 crisis has put even more of our neighbors at risk of losing their home, faced with food insecurity and unemployment.

The Education & Resource Center offers services ranging from access to computers, tax preparation and job training, to workshops on financial education and credit counseling, support applying for jobs, resume and interview support, connecting with resources and benefits. The Center, open to all Beaufort County residents, is a place for individuals and families to explore resources and support.

PATHS2SUCCESS

Bluffton Self Help is excited to announce a new program - Path2Success! This client-centered program will help adult learners identify individual goals and define their unique path to success. What makes this program different and unique is the way in which you travel the path. You are NOT alone on this journey. Path2Success will walk with you every step of the way providing support, mentorship, peer learning opportunities and much more. CONFIDENCE CLOTHING CLOSET


In addition to providing access to food, Bluffton Self Help strives to meet the basic needs of families facing crisis or poverty. We provide clothing through our Confidence Clothing Closet, as well as, other essentials such as coats, toiletries, diapers, wipes and formula. Our neighbors may shop for 10-20 clothing items two times per month.


Confidence Clothing Closet Hours

In an effort to keep our community healthy we have limited our hours. The Confidence Clothing Closet will be open Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays 10am-1pm. 

  • Masks will be required but not provided. 
  • Only 1 person per household will be able to enter the building, please no children.

HOLIDAY SERVICES

Holidays can bring added financial and emotional stress to families in our area. Families that are financially confident for most of the year can struggle with the extra expenses. We help alleviate some of those pressures with food, clothing, toys and baskets; all are part of our Holiday Services. From our Holiday Toy Shop to Thanksgiving Pantry, we want to ensure our families have a joyful holiday season.
